When to Enroll
Distance education (DE) courses begin five times a year - on the same calendar as the regular eight-week term schedules for UMUC-Europe. Unlike on-site courses, DE course instruction runs for 12-weeks. Some terms may overlap a few weeks. All DE courses require one exam be administered in a proctored setting.DE enrollments are limited and on occasion classes may fill. In the event that a class fills, another section will be added if possible. Review the UMUC-Europe DE calendar.
How to Enroll
Once a reservation is made for a UMUC online DE course, students must complete the enrollment process with their UMUC representative at a military education center. Registration forms must be completed and tuition must be paid. Students using military tuition assistance must complete additional paperwork and obtain the required signatures. GoArmyEd students must go through GoArmyEd portal to register for online courses.Once committed to enrolling in a class, students should order textbooks using the appropriate online order form. Students in Europe may request textbooks for UMUC-Europe courses to be sent on consignment to their local UMUC representative for student payment. Direct shipments must be made using a major credit card (Visa or MasterCard).
Where to Enroll
If there is no education center within a reasonable traveling distance, students may complete their registration through the UMUC-Europe DE office, either on-line or by telephone and regular mail. Possession of a nationally recognized credit card is necessary for the completion of such special registrations.Summary of Enrollment Procedures
- Select a course(s) from one of the current term schedules.
- Complete and submit the pertinent "reservation request form." A separate reservation request form is available for UMUC-Europe, UMUC-Asia, and UMUC-Stateside. GoArmyEd students must go through the GoArmyEd portal to register for online courses.
- For all UMUC online DE classes, take a printout of the confirmation letter to the UMUC representative at your local military education center.
- Complete registration forms, pay tuition, and make sure the UMUC representative calls in your enrollment to the DE Office in Heidelberg, Germany so that you can be added to the class list.
- Submit an online DE textbook order with the hosting division for selected class.
Once the UMUC representative calls in your enrollment to the Heideliberg DE Office, your name is added to the class roster. If you are a first-time student, you will receive your WebTycho username and password via e-mail. Your WebTycho class will be available approximately one week prior to the class start. If you are not able to access your WebTycho class one week before the start date, contact the UMUC-Europe DE Office at dist_ed@ed.umuc.edu.
