Directions and Parking

The UMUC office is located in the same Building 354, the same building as the public library.

To find our location, please take Autobahn 1, north toward Koblenz. A1 one ends and becomes A48. Take the first exit after A1 changes into A48 at the "Cochem/Ulmen/Buechel exit. Make a left at the end of the exit, toward Buechel. Remain on this two lane road until you see a sign for "Flughafen Buechel." Make a right turn and you will come to a traffic circle. Take the second exit in the traffic circle, therefore mainting a straight orientation. After you enter the base make an immediate left, then take another left into a gated parking area. The building located near the parking area is where the UMUC office is located, Bldg 354.

Computer Labs

UMUC does not provide a computer lab at this location. However, a computer lab is available at the UMUC office in Spangdahlam, about a 40 minute drive from Buechel.

Testing Services

Placement tests for English and math courses and proctored exams for distance education courses are available through your local UMUC office. Please contact the field representative to schedule an appointment.

Additional Site Information

This is a NATO Geographically Seperated Unit (GSU), therefore the nearest education center is located at Spangdahlam. The UMUC office at Buechel provides on-site classes and assistance with registration and other educational needs. There is a Shoppette available and a bar that serves food and drinks in the evenings.

The nearest German community is Ulmen, which provides several restaurants, shopping opportunities, and guest housing. Additionally, the German town Cochem is a tourist atrraction with a castle located within the Mosel river valley, vineyards, and a small amusement park. Cochem is about a 15 minute drive from the Buechel NATO base.
