Directions and Parking

The UMUC office is located on Rose Barracks, in the Vilseck Education Center in Building 223, room 2.9.

To find our location, please take Autobahn 6 until you reach the exit for German Federal Highway 299/Amberg-West. Continue straight on Highway 299 for about five kilometers, through the town of Amberg. Outside the town of Amberg, you will come to a fork in the road and a sign indicating Vilseck. Make a left turn at the sign toward Vilseck. Continue straight on that road until you reach the front gate of Rose Barracks. Once you pass through the main gate and inspection area on post, continue driving straight until you reach Artillary Road. Turn right on to turn Artillery Road. At the 519th ARTY, or Building 221, make a left turn (this will be the fourth turn option available). The Education Center is located on the right side of the road in Bldg 223 on the second floor.

Computer Labs

The UMUC sponsored computer lab has 20 computers available for student use. Each computer provides access to the Internet, as well as a word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software. The computer lab is located in room 1.2 and accessible Mon-Fri, 0830-1930, and Saturdays 0900-1400.

Testing Services

Placement tests for English and math courses and proctored exams for distance education courses are available through your local UMUC office. Please contact the field representative to schedule an appointment.

Additional Site Information

The Garrison consists of the Vilseck and Grafenwoehr communities, which are located within the German state of Bavaria (Bayern) about 80 kilometers from the city of Nuernberg, 35 kilometers from Weiden, and 25 kilometers from Amberg. The major command is the Joint Multinational Training Command with the primary mission of training. Dining facilities on post include: Burger King, Subway, Charleys, Popeyes, Anthony's Pizza, Tumbweed Tex-Mex restaurant, Shoppette and a commissary. Lodging is available on-post at the Krystal Inn. Other activities on-post include a movie theater, sports bar, bowling alley, library, and fitness center.
