Directions and Parking

The UMUC office is located in the Camp Darby Education Center in Building 427, room 5.

To find our location, please take the Autostratta to the exit for Pisa/Camp Darby. At the end of the exit, merge onto the main road, SS1/SGC, toward Camp Darby. Remain straight on the SSI/SGC until you arrive at a traffic circle. In the traffic circle, take the second exit, maintaining a straight orientation. Follow the road until you see the base on the right side of the road (about 1/2 mile from the traffic circle). Once on base, you will pass through the main gate and the inspection point. After the inspection point, remain straight. Then turn right at the second street, Harmon Avenue. Follow the road until you come to Bldg 427 on the right side. Parking is available in front of the public library (the next building over).

Computer Labs

The UMUC sponsored computer lab has eight computers available for student use. Each computer provides access to the Internet, as well as a word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software. The computer lab is accessible Mon-Thu, 1000-1600.

Testing Services

Placement tests for English and math courses and proctored exams for distance education courses are available through your local UMUC office. Please contact the field representative to schedule an appointment.

Additional Site Information

Camp Darby is located on the outskirts of the Italian city of Pisa, in the Tuscany region. Famous to the city of Pisa is the Leaning Tower of Pisa, as well as several other cultural highlights and many restauarnts and lodging options. Camp Darby is located about 45 mintues from the renissance city of Florence.

Lodging is available on Camp Darby at Casa Toscana on on a space available basis. Additional lodging is available at C-Pines, a camping facility where trailors or tents are provided. Dining facilities on base include: a bowling alley fast food kiosk and a restaurant, Case de Ghaja. Entertainment on base includes a bowling alley, movie theater, fitness center, and library. About a 5 minute drive from Camp Darby is the American owned beach, Tirrenia, accessible from Memmorial Day weekend until Labor Day weekend.
