Directions and Parking

The UMUC office is located in the Lakenheath Education Center in Building 948, room 108.

Upon entering Gate One and passing through the inspection point, please maintain a straight orientation as you pass through two traffic circles (take the second exit in the traffic circles). When you see a Burger King, please make a left turn, and then an immediate right turn into a parking lot. The building to the left is Bldg 946 (Security Forces Dormitory). The building behind the dormitory (to the right) is Bldg. 948. The first floor of the building is the education wing.

Computer Labs

The UMUC sponsored computer lab has 15 computers available for student use. Each computer provides access to the Internet, as well as a word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software. The computer lab is accessible from Mon-Thu, 0800-1800 and Fri, 0800-1700.

Testing Services

Placement tests for English and math courses and proctored exams for distance education courses are available through your local UMUC office. Please contact the field representative to schedule an appointment.

Additional Site Information

RAF Lakenheath is nestled near the villages of Lakenheath, Mildenhall, and Brandon. The historic town of Bury St. Edmunds is located just 15 miles away; Cambridge, with its world famous botanic gardens, colleges, restaurants, shopping, and museums, is located north-east about about 30 miles; and the historic city of London is about 2 hours away. A train station is available at Ely and it has connections to both Cambridge and London. RAF Lakenheath offers many activities, including a fitness center, indoor swimming pool, skating rink, movie theater, and woodcraft center. For shopping, there is a BX with local vendors, a commissary, and a 24-hour Shoppette. There is a shuttle bus for transport between RAF Lakenheath and RAF Mildenhall. Dining facilities include: Burger King, Popeyes, Cheese Steak Charley's, Taco Bell, and Anthony's Pizza. Lodging is available on base at the temporary lodging facility, Gateway Inn.
