Course
Description: 3
semester hours of graduate-level management.
This course addresses the contexts of human resource management,
staffing, employee development, compensation, employee relations, employee
rights, organized labor relations and management in the workplace. During the course, all aspects of human
resource management are addressed and the relationship it has with, and impact
on, other management areas. The course
will examine the need for proactive human resource management and cooperation
between line managers and the human resources department; the importance of
operating within a legal framework and acting ethically; the effects of
reorganizing, outsourcing and quality management; workplace diversity; and
technology.
Course
Objectives: By
the end of this course, students should have a graduate level knowledge of the
management of human resources and its relationship with other management areas
within the organization workplace.
Evaluation: The final grade in this
course will be based on the following activities:

Assignment (prior to first

General Information – All other
information, to include term paper, presentation and other
assignments, will be discussed and provided at first class session.
Autobiography
– Dick Gerding earned his Master of Science Degree in
Management and Engineering from the Naval Postgraduate School in 1979. He has served thirty years in the U.S.
military and is currently the senior military advisor to the Federation
Minister of Defense here in Sarajevo.
He has previously taught courses in Business, Management, Human
Resources, Investments, Probability & Statistics, and Mathematics for Troy
State University and the University of Maryland.
