The Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL) is now accepting applications from full-time and adjunct faculty to participate in the 2005 Summer Faculty Leadership Institute. This year the Summer Institute will bring a group of 40 worldwide faculty together to engage in an intensive learning experience on our Adelphi campus. CTL will support travel to and from Adelphi as well as lodging for those who reside outside the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. The Institute will be held Monday, August 1 through Thursday, August 4, 2005 and will focus on three topics: Designing and Assessing Writing Assignments, Creating and Integrating Multimedia, and Understanding Outcomes Assessment. A post-Institute project will encourage participants to share what they have learned with academic/program directors and colleagues in their disciplines. Applicants selected to participate in this year's Summer Institute must meet the following requirements: ˇApplicants must be current UMUC full-time or adjunct faculty in any division; ˇApplicants who are full-time faculty must have taught at least 3 classes as full-time faculty or 5 classes combined as full-time and adjunct since January 2003; ˇApplicants who are adjuncts must have taught at least 3 classes since January 2003; ˇApplicants must have taught online at least once since January 2003; ˇApplicants must have an average score of 4.0 or above on student evaluations during the past 2 years; ˇApplicants must show evidence of leadership (see web site for details). Final selection will be made on the basis of the strategic needs of the university, the application, the requirements listed above, representation from SUS, GSMT, ED, AD, as well as a diversity of disciplines.
